How to go: Hamilton’s July 4th celebration

The City of Hamilton will recognize Independence Day with a celebration in the downtown area. A parade and festivities kick off at 10 a.m. Friday.

The 52nd annual parade, led by Grand Marshal Cris Crowthers of Caring Closet, starts at the Butler County Fairgrounds and proceeds south on Ohio 4. It will head west on Dayton Street, south on Seventh Street, then west on High Street.

The parade finishes just past the Butler County Court House on Front Street, according to the city’s website. A ceremony with music will be at the Court House Gazebo.

A Taste of Hamilton takes place around the Court House throughout the day, and evening entertainment is slated for RiversEdge Amphitheatre. Music begins with the Bobby Cunningham Jazz Duo at 5 p.m. Also performing is the Divine Steel steel drum band and the Jack Carr Band.

The city’s fireworks display is set for 10 p.m.
