Hamilton firefighters need support for Haiti medical mission

BeachBashSix current and previous members of the Hamilton Fire Department will be going on a medical mission to the impoverished country Haiti, and they are seeking the community’s support.

The firefighters and medics are going in late October and paying all of their own expenses, including the purchase of all medicines and supplies necessary to run a clinic. Hundreds of people who do not easily have access to health care will be treated in the clinic.

To raise funds for the trip, the HFD is hosting a family friendly beach party and tug-o-war contest. The Hamilton Firefighters Beach Bash begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 and goes until the venue closes.

It will be at Alleys on the River, 945 Pyramid Hill Blvd., Hamilton. Activities include music, food, drinks, bowling, sand to play in, a Chinese raffle, split-the-pot and virtual golf.

The tug-o-war tournament-style event requires teams of six, and registration is encouraged.

For more information on the Beach Bash, check out the Facebook page. Contacts are Tony Harris, (513) 262-6378, and Todd Schlenk, (513) 218-0614.
